What's the idea behind site value calculators? They probably use all the info they can collect about the site, such as Pagerank, backlinks, ranking, niche, SERPs etc and spit out this random value that can range for the same site from $100 to $100,000!!

Is it all just a fake value after all?

As you pointed out, it's just a waste of time. Those values usually try to encourage webmasters to believe that they are sitting on a goldmine, so that they will place a reciprocal link on their site.

Worthless tool.

Never place any of their little images with a price tag on it on your pages.

It makes your site looks worthless and desperate.

I agree never to place the site value images on your site because they are worthless.

HOWEVER there is a use to these sites. Basically say you were able to submit to create a site value/stats page on 2500+ of these sites (there are that many), and say 50% of them actually work (1250), and say 5%-10% of them get picked up by google as links (possible in my experience), this is is around 60-120 additional recognised backlinks to your site. They won't be high value to be honest, but they are easy to create.

I have a program set up to do just this, it's an autopilot thing one you have spent the intial time to set it up, and it takes about 2-3 hours to do the submissions. If anyone would like me to do a stats site submission script run for them, please PM me - say $10 per site of $5 per site if done in reasonable bulk. (actual number of backlinks picked up by Google not guaranteed)
