a very very very close family member and her business partner wants to change over from their web designer to me. its nothing much just updating the websit, add some flash and do some photography. and maybe later on transfer it to a cms.

As per me i would do it for free and i even told her that. she told me to talk to her business partner as he deals with the IT side. He wants to pay.

my question would you charge someone very close to you (i mean as close as your brother or sister)? i personally feel i don't want to charge and also i want to do the website.

and if you charge how much do you charge? 50% off, 15% off or charge full price?

If it's just an ordinary website and doesn't require much updates and changes and won't eat my time, then I can do it for free. But if it requires lot of efforts, I will charge the right rate. Well you said they wanted to pay so there you go

I don't think so that they are doing any wrong with you. You must pool confidence and take a firm decision in time so that you may be able to take right step.
