Which way brings more visitors for your website and you use it more?
Article submission or social bookmarking?
Article Submission needs time to get traffic. An article submitted in an article directory normally takes around 3-7 days to get your articles published. When it gets published, you can expect some one to click and read your article only if you have an enticing Title and capturing content. All this is time taking, In addition, the hyperlink used inside the article as a backlink to your website cannot be immediate noted as backlink. Especially in Google, sometimes it shows only backlinks from a source when the link gets clicked by a visitor.
Unlike article submission, Social Bookmarking gets instant traffic to your website/blog or any page you bookmark. But you should have active participation inside the bookmarking site to boost traffic to your bookmarked links.

Article submission would be good as it gives you natural back links to your site.
Most links are dropped just as links without any significance of being noticed. So, even if you have a quality backlink to your website from another website, traffic is not for sure. It depends on the number of visitors to that page, the portion of your link's visible area, and the Hyperlink text.
