I have a website that ranks well in Google for my preferred search term but not so well in Google Australia.

My preferred search term lands me on page 1 slot 2 for Google but I don't seem to be able to get above page 2 in Google Australia. I would have expected Google.com to be the international version and thus index pages from all over the world and google.com.au to mainly index pages from Australia and I would rank higher in Australia because there's less competition.

My question is "What's up with that?"

Where are you from and what's the link of your website? Google Australia functions as a mild promoter of local au websites. As I understand correctly, you don't promote your website to google.com.au that's why your rankings is low. Vice versa if you started with google.com.au, your searches will be low in google.com. It's like regional website promotion.

Today, there is too much competition in Google.co.uk, most of the businessmen are targeting UK market only..

Ummm does everyone here just type meaningless posts in an effort to get to a point where you can post links to your own websites?

Both are countries wise and nothing more than this and on the other and it also depends on the population of countries....
